Happy New Year….2010. (How do you pronounce it? ‘Two thousand and ten’ or ‘twenty ten’?)

2010 is the promise of everything new and we have definitely all earned it, after one of the world’s worst financial years in history.

For those of us in Sharm who had a grim 2009 … it’s all behind us now. It’s in the rear view mirror – never to be seen again! But maybe life isn’t supposed to be too easy; if it’s that straightforward and undemanding - are we missing part of the adventure?

So now that 2009 has faded into the sunset, we can review last year’s progress and look boldly forward to the year to come. We should ask ourselves – are we better people than one year ago? (I hope so.) The big question now is how can we be even better at the end of this year?  

Have you created a huge list of New Year resolutions?  Perhaps 2010 is the year for setting a handful of major goals rather than a long string of resolutions? When we set personal goals it is less, attempting to become somebody new overnight and more, striving to reach more attainable and realistic objectives; as a result, we become more and more successful over the coming years Sharm el Sheikh.

Perhaps it’s time for us to reach out, give generously and expect nothing in return.  All of us need to look at what really makes us happy and stress-free. One way is to belong to something larger than ourselves – be part of a giving  Sharm community.

Could one of your New Year Goals be starting up a new club – Sharm ladies coffee morning, a Dinner Club, ramblers club, playing bridge, chess or even the Sharm Ex-Wives Club!? This year at The Book Sharm, we have dubbed 2010 as ‘The Year of Health’; if we treat our bodies with respect, then we're more likely to have a positive attitude to life and, as a result, be happier in everything we do.
